About

Slate is a metamorphic rock that was formed 400 to 500  million years ago. This old reclaimed Welsh and Irish slate became popular for slate roofing during the 19th and 20th century.

Slate Earth gives a new dimension to the craft and material of slate. Pat draws inspiration from the character and history of the different types of natural slate he uses. He is also inspired by creating irregular shaped pieces through the concept of nature relating to our landscape surroundings.

Slate Earth produces and specialises in small to medium size mirrors, clocks and candleholders. These include different combinations of round and leaf slate inlay.

This old-fashinoned reclaimed slate can be irregular in shape, thickness, colour and texture. This makes Pat's products all the more unique and natural in appearance.

Pat works with a variety of old Irish and Welsh slate that includes Blue Bangor, Portmadoc, Killaloe and Valentia. This gives the customer a good selection of slate and natural colours to choose from. They have their own identity and are strongly connected to our Irish heritage. Every slate piece tells its own story.

Pat diamond cuts and polishes the edging adding to the quality and finish of the workmanship. With the enhancement of using a slate sealer, it treats and shows the true colour and texture of the slate.

Slate Earth is a craft that is unique in nature and design.
